As a mother, one of the lessons you have to learn is use the 3 C's during a crisis- stay calm, cool and collected. Most people who know me know I have never been calm, cool or collected at any given time, let alone all three at one time. I can't help it. It's just the way I was born. (Thanks, DNA!)
Soooo....the babies and I were way to lazy to go to school or work on Monday. Momma laid on the couch all morning and the munchkins watched tv and played. The afternoon was filled with the water hose and bug catching. Tootie Roo, whom I told is as coordinated as her momma, was walking in the back door and tripped. Down went her little head on the sliding glass door rail on the floor. Crying and blood ensued.
She hit her head right in between her eyes and down her nose. So what do I do? Scoop her up and put her on the counter. Colton grabbed an ice pack and the phone and I grabbed lots of tissues. Seeing Ava in so much pain made me get upset. Her little nose was all purple and I worried it might be broken so I call Jesse- because he's a guy and he's been hurt a few times. Luckily, he was a few minutes from the house and told me he'd stop by.
That was a very long 10 minuets! We all calmed down and Ava and I sat on the porch and rocked while trying to get her bloody nose under control. Well, as soon as Jesse showed up, the tears started flowing again. Only not from Ava. From me! I was more hysterical than Ava, which got her upset. Jesse got us all calmed down again soon enough.
But I still feel so helpless in those situations. I'm supposed to be the adult and keep everyone calm but I actually do the opposite. I make things worse. Just because you grow up doesn't mean you mature. I feel like that's my biggest failure as a mom- being the one freaking out and not the one staying cool.
Children see and hear everything. They learn how to act by watching their parents. I am teaching my children to make a big ordeal out of the littlest things. My anxieties are molding my children, and not in a good way.
I guess what I'm trying to say is...this is something I need to work on. Being a better example for my babies so that they can grow up and make their own decisions. Practice makes perfect!

Happy Birthday, Little Man!
My baby turned 6 yesterday! He isn't a baby, but he isn't just a kid yet either. So he gets called my baby, or Tootsie Roll. Plus, those big brown eyes of his just melt my heart, so he gets almost anything he wants, just like a baby.
I have to say that Colton is the sweetest and kindest child I've ever met. He always shares his food or snacks with anyone who wants more. This morning I opened a drawer in my jewelry box to be surprised by a chocolate egg. Only one guess who put it there! And charming, too! Last night, he had a baseball game. Standing out there on the field, next to the pitcher's mound, was my little love bug and what was he doing? Throwing me winks!!! That boy is C.H.A.R.M.I.N.G.
He had a great birthday. I went to school and ate lunch with him and brought cake pops for the class. I also brought him some balloons. We had a good time. Then, Mimi and Mr. David came to his baseball game! He enjoyed the attention and we even sang Happy Birthday to him. He loved it.
All in all, I think he had a good day!

Am I blue?
Pantone declared the color of the year to be "Tangerine."While I LOVE coral, I'm not ready to make it front and center, more like a side dish than main course. Benjamin Moore declared their color of the year to be "Wythe Blue." That happens to be more up my alley for the moment.
It seems everywhere I look right now, I'm noticing light, watery blue-green. Maybe it's just me discovering it for the first time, or maybe it's just spring. Of all the colors I loved before, blue has never been on my to-do list. Fall colors have always been my forte. I don't know why the sudden change of heart, but it all started with a kitchen. I now found myself scouring pictures for any room in blue.
Better Homes and Gardens featured a few palettes that I simply adore. Never being satisfied with the norm, I am planning on taking 2 and combining them. The first one is coral based:
Juicy Citrus
The second one is blue- based aptly named:
I can't wait to get a new house and start painting! For the exterior colors, I'm thinking Sherwin Williams Drizzle with Relaxed Khaki and Panda White. They look great together.
Side note: Did you know you can paint vinyl siding? Jesse thinks that defeats the whole purpose, but I prefer beauty over practicality once in awhile!
Well, that's enough for now. I'm pretty sure my kids have just fed themselves a dinner of Easter chocolate!
